Frustration at times can arise when living in New York City, especially, during the winter season. The transition period from fall to winter can be a little overwhelming and honestly unexpected. At times the forecast can take a leap for the worst, but our wardrobes can’t. Don’t let these little mishaps frustrate or consume you when deciding what to wear this autumn/winter. Instead, have fun by utilizing, what you have in your collection. Here are some examples, how you can layer up with style, by combining your summer clothing with your winter wardrobes. Proving that there can be bright shiny days, during the winter seasons.
TIP 1: LAYERING UP WITH LEGGINGS/TIGHTS!
To say the least, in many occasion leggings and tights come in handy. Especially, if you live in a frosty area. For instance, I’m a native New Yorker and when temperatures drop significantly, leggings and tights become an essential part of a women’s wardrobe. On the other hand, LEGGINGS or TIGHTS can be very stylish as well. Take note on how I layer up with my pencil shirt by intermixing both leggings and tights to my outfit. This is one of many ways you can infuse a summer piece and make it work throughout the season. Take a look for yourself…
In addition, when combining your summer pieces with your winter pieces, remember to be stylish and make a statement with bold or pattern leggings/tights. It is evident, that I chose a bold color tights (mustard yellow) and decided to combine it with a pattern leggings in a solid black color tone. Whatever preference you prefer,
just own it, because style is a way of saying who you are without having to speak.
TIP 2: LAYERING UP THE TURTLE NECK WITH A SUMMER BLOUSE!
The turtle neck is not only a classic, but equally important it is a timeless piece. The turtle neck can be combine with summer blouses, resulting once again to great style. To get a clear understanding, just take a look how I layer a stylish summer blouse with a turtle neck. This is another example, how opposite seasons can work in conjunction to create the perfect outfit.
TIP 3: LAYERING UP SUMMER DRESSES
When living in seasonal areas, summer days seem so far away, especially during the winter months when all you can expect is cold, icy, snowy, and even freezing temperatures. These uncontrollable weather changes encourages us at times to over-layer, resulting in bulkiness and heaviness. On the contrary, incorporate style to those brutal weather conditions ahead, by blending your summer dresses with your winter wardrobe. Here is one way I created a fashionable ensemble, by layering up a summer dress and combining it with a turtle neck, fuchsia tights, fuchsia heels with stylish socks, and tie waist Mesh Trench Coat. This ensemble captures the essence of how to layer up with style, and how to incorporate your summer wardrobe all year around. Take a look for yourself…..
Finally, here are more examples how I blend, incorporate, and intermix summer pieces with my winter wardrobe. Enjoy!
To capture the true essence of layering up you must coordinate with style, stay comfortable, and above all else keep WARM!! Never mix and match pieces that are not compatible. Having a prevailing taste in fashion starts with owning who you are, being a trend setter, and experimenting with different styles. But what separates a true fashionista is having an understanding and acceptance of what works and doesn’t. Until Next Time, RACHEL ULLOA is ON THE GO…
