SEA LEGACY: TURNING THE TIDE!

“I HAVE MADE IT MY LIFE’S WORK TO TELL THE STORY OF OUR WORLD’S OCEAN. DRILLING FOR OIL, EXPANDING PIPELINES, AND FAILURE TO LISTEN TO WHAT SCIENCE IS TELLING US, MAY HAVE IRREVERSIBLE CONSEQUENCES ON THE PLANET. IF WE ARE GOING TO REVERSE CLIMATE CHANGE, THE TIME IS TO ACT NOW. EVERY OTHER BREATH WE TAKE COMES FROM THE SEA. OUR PLANET IS MADE UP OF MORE THAN 70% OCEAN, AND WHILE WE, AS SPECIES, HAVE DONE SIGNIFICANT DAMAGE, THER IS STILL TIME TO MAKE THINGS RIGHT.”

-CRISTINA MITTERMEIER-

Our earth and future depends on the health, and prosperity of the deep blue sea. Under those circumstances, protecting our oceans is a must, if we want to continue life on earth. But due to careless human activity our planet and oceans are suffering. We need to stop being ignorant and arrogant. In a like manner, we need to come to the realization that our planet is dying.

We only have one planet let’s not take it for granted.

In fact, understanding this notion leads to knowledge. For this reason, we must come together to heal our planet, and the ecosystem she provides. It’s time for a change! Let’s make that change by joining the tide, at Sea legacy. Together, we can start nourishing our oceans back to health from overfishing, pollution, dying coral reefs, ocean dead zones, and many other environmental hazards that are harming our oceans and marine life.

It’s time to remove the veil, and become aware of the effects, we have caused to our oceans. That’s what founders Paul Nicklen and Cristina Mittermeier have done, and continue to do through their nonprofit organization, at Sea Legacy.  Sea Legacy is dedicated on preserving our oceans and marine life for future generations. Through their activism and social media platform, they have been able to educate, advocate, and demonstrate, what is happening to our plant. Paul and Cristian are beyond a mission. There courageous leadership has impacted our communities on a global scale.

For this purpose, I interviewed marine biologist, Cristina Mittermeier on her career and on her nonprofit organization. If I can describe her in  a few words, I will say she is more than a photojournalist. Behind the lens stands, a smart and powerful woman, who has dedicated her life to exploring the unknown. Her love, passion, and dedication has taken her all over the world. As a photojournalist, her lens provides us with a glimpse into her soul. She’s a prime example, how the power of photography can influence the world, while at the same time educating humanity of the cruel reality we are facing.

Through Sea Legacy, we can plant a seed of hope. We must be willing to learn, grow, and lead for the next generation. The foundation of our voices must permeate to our children, in order for them to embrace a stable and healthy planet. It only takes one person to make a difference. Let our New Year’s resolution be about our home planet, our earth. We only have one planet let’s not take it for granted. You can join the Tide by supporting their Mission, by donating to Sea Legacy.  Paul and Cristian invite you to join behind-the-scenes on expedition, and see how your support makes a real difference. This is why I encourage everyone to JOIN THE TIDE!
