NEW YORK FASHION WEEK IS SOMETHING TO ALWAYS LOOK FORWARD TO: THE BACKSTAGE MADNESS WITH HAIR AND MAKE UP, THE LINEUP OF THE MODELS. WHAT TAKES MONTHS OF PREPARATION ONLY LASTS ABOUT 3 TO 5 MINUTES, SO I AM SURE THAT DESIGNERS DON’T WANT TO DISAPPOINT. THE DESIGNERS CONNECT WITH THE AUDIENCE BY SHOWING US WHAT ELSE BUT THE FASHION. DESIGNER ROHITAVA BANERJEE, ONLY 19 YEARS OLD, MADE HIS NYFW DEBUT AT NOLCHA SHOWS…AND SHOWED US WHAT HIS DESIGNS WERE ALL ABOUT.
ROHITAVA BANERJEE: This NYFW first-timer displayed his fall/winter 2016 collection at Nolcha Shows. Down the runway you saw inspiration by Greece, past and present. Banerjee’s show carried a “Five Rivers” theme, inspired by the idea of death and by the five Grecian rivers of the underworld (Cocytus, Acheron,Phlegethon, Lethe, and Styx), hence the five parts to the presentation. Vibrant colors such as red, yellow, and emerald green, and such color blends as canary yellow with the aforementioned red were present. Even neutrals like black stood out next to bright colors and patterns. Every dress looked rich and cultural. The detail of every silhouette was well thought of. All in all, Banerjee’s work reflects his love for fashion and history…interesting and powerful combination there! Now for some pictures… [Photos: Brian Ach/Getty Images for NOLCHA SHOWS]
