Ah, New York City…where fashion is everywhere. The great Coco Chanel once said: “Fashion is not something that exists in dresses only. Fashion is in the sky, in the street, fashion has to do with ideas, the way we live, what is happening.” That being said, what just happened was that Nolcha Fashion Shows at New York Fashion Week just wrapped their Spring/Summer 2016 season and here are some designers you need to look out for.
The first part of Nolcha’s fashion show, “Ones To Watch,” showcased designers Charles & Ron, Planet Zero Motorsports, Jungwon featuring Cat Footwear, Global Citizen, and Anya Liesnik. The second part of the show, “Collective,” featured designers Danny Nguyen Couture, Acid NYC, and Intrepid by A O’C.
Charles & Ron: What you should look out for is the color yellow, as seen in their Spring 2016 collection. That color choice is especially inspired by the luzzu, a Maltese fishing boat. Moreover, the luzzu prints are present in the actual garments themselves. Their Spring 2016 collection can be describe as creative, bold, and breathable.
Planet Zero MotorSports: Kenya Smith, the genius behind the brand, is a motorcyclist himself. He is committed to riders wearing gear that can be worn with trendsetting style. Planet Zero Motorsports is stylish gear that can best be describe as edgy and flawless.
Jungwon featuring Cat Footwear: What was revealed at Nolcha fashion show about this line? It was all about the jackets and neutral color tones. The jackets are well-fitted, simple, sophisticated, and original. What’s more, they provide versatile looks, a bonus to anyone who takes pleasure in styling themselves differently depending on occasion or mood.
Global Citizen: The Global Poverty Project is a non profit that is spreading worldwide to end extreme poverty by 2030. Global Citizen sends this positive message to the world through fashion. Not only what an amazing cause but the fashion is amazing as well. When we can simplify things in our life, it makes life much more worth living. Global Citizen is a simple line, including hoodies and tees with the brand imprinted on the designs and making a bold statement. Neutrals such as black, gray, and white go well with any cut of denim jean, and Global Citizen takes advantage of that. You can look like, or better yet, have more swag than Jagger wearing Global Citizen, but what makes it much cooler is the message it is sending out to the world. How empowering!
Anya Liesnik: Tasteful, sexy, and sophisticated can best describe Anya Liesnik. The colors are soft and the undertones will complement anybody’s skin tone. Form-fitting designs that can embrace any body type and still manage to look elegant enough.
Danny Nguyen Couture: Couture is the design and manufacture of fashionable clothes. It doesn’t get more complex than this. Danny Nguyen Couture is very fashionable. Can anyone say glamor, glamor, and more glamor? Fitted at the waist with ruffles at the tail. High sewing and high dressmaking is seen in Danny Nguyen Couture, constructed by hand from start to finish. Detail that will make any person wearing one of these dresses feel like a fairytale princess. Wearing a Danny Nguyen Couture dress will make everything and everyone stop what they are doing and not only appreciate the person but the dress as well.
Acid NYC: The clothes and accessories that make up the Acid line are especially highlighted by bold colors and even bolder prints and patterns, some bordering on psychedelic (hence the name?). The outré prints included stone, bamboo shoots, brick pavers, computer and electrical grids, even an island landscape. The daring designs of Acid’s clothes and accessories, when used right, can be real attention grabbers.
Intrepid by AO’C: While the perfect counter to the previous label, the Intrepid line, with its mostly neutral palette, is absolutely anything but dull. AO’C makes excellent use of patterns and details in these designs. Also setting Intrepid apart is its wide range of styles, from classic to contemporary, from casual to dressy.
And there you have it…some outstanding designers and some killer looks from Nolcha’s Spring / Summer 2016 runway show at New York Fashion Week.
